Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest Temporarily Closing all Developed Recreation Sites

More Info

FS closureClosure to address Governor’s statewide COVID-19 “Stay Home” order

To support state and local measures directing people to stay home to save lives, effective March 27, 2020, all Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest developed recreation sites will be closed until such measures are lifted.

Developed recreation sites now closed include campgrounds, sno-parks, restroom facilities, and trailheads.

These closures are necessary to address the social distancing guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and to align with Governor Inslee’s “Stay at Home and Stay Safe” executive order. The executive order says to stay home and to not travel for recreational purposes.

Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest officials urge people to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and avoid putting undue pressure on medical and law enforcement services, especially in rural communities, in Central Washington, so we can all return to our outdoor adventures as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.

In addition, Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest offices are currently conducting public business by phone, email, or through web-based transactions; critical in-person business is being handled by appointment only to minimize person-to-person contact. More Information on Office Access

Dear LWSC and Community Members,

Based on developments of COVID-19 in Washington State,

We are closing the lodge and all other LWSC activities at least til April 24th.

Please Help stop coronavirus

1 HANDS: Wash them often

2 ELBOW: Cough into it

3 FACE: Don't touch it

4 SPACE: Keep safe distance (6 feet)

5 HOME: Stay home if you can

Please follow the Forest Service and State measure to stay home. Trails are open, but parking lot, trailhead and restrooms are closed. Recreate from your front door, if you have to get in a car, its too far. If group size and social distancing protocols are not followed, trails will be closed.

Trails are opening up, there is moisture in the forecast. If it does rain, please wait for the trails to dry out before going out. Our soil is made out of clay, it is very slick when wet. Any hiking or bike tire tracks in the mud will dry in that shape for the season.
