The Leavenworth Winter Sports Club was formed in November of 1928 with the goal of facilitating winter recreation in the Leavenworth area. By January of 1929 winter enthusiasts were able to ski and toboggan at the original location on Wheeler Hill, a privately owned property just South of the current day Ski Hill location.
