Snowshoeing

Icicle River Snowshoe Adventure Trail - 3KM

Snowshoers love this trail! It meanders through forests, meadows and dense thickets taking you up close to Icicle Creek in many locations. You can enjoy the adventure of "first tracks" after new snow or follow the path others for a more leisurely outing. Find a change of pace, seclusion and tranquility as you wind through through the winter landscape away from the ski trail. The Icicle River Snowshoe Adventure Trail is marked but maintained by the footsteps of the users. It is a free trail, but do not venture onto the ski trail. Snowshoeing is not allowed on the groomed skiing surface at the Icicle River Trail.

Ski Hill Trail - 7KM

For a snowshoe adventure on a groomed surface the the Ski Hill Trail makes for a great outing. This is an advanced ski trail with much less ski traffic but it is just right for any ability on snowshoes. A real treat at the Ski Hill is snowshoeing at night. Five kilometers are lit for night use. Just imagine snowflakes drifting down under the lights as you experience the soft silence of the winter night. Beautiful! Snowshoe users share this trail with skiers so please stay to the left edge of the skating lane and NEVER snowshoe in the classic tracks. Lights out at 11PM, have fun!

Waterfront Park Trail - 3KM

Another great groomed snowshoe outing is the mutli-use trail in Waterfront Park. Just one block from downtown, snowshoers can join this three-kilometer trail at end of 9th street or the end of Division Street at the Barn Beach Reserve. The trail crosses Blackbird Island, provides views of wildlife, shining waters, and the surrounding mountains. Remember, please do not snowshoe in the classic ski track and DO NOT enter the Golf Course. Because of the temptation to venture off trail onto sensitive areas, snowshoeing is not allowed anywhere on the Leavenworth Golf Course grounds.
